It has been eighteen months since a prominent couple from Bossier City, Louisiana, was killed execution style during an apparent robbery. District Attorney Earl Wiggins and Deputy Sheriff Lon Gerker, both up for re-election, are desperate for a suspect. When they learn that Chester Andrson, a scruffy career criminal in a Missouri jail has information about the slayings, they are eager to her what he has to say. Anderson names as the killer, a cocky Texas rodeo star, Jack Favor (Clint Black) known to some as Cadillac Jack. On the word of a known liar, and without a shred of evidence, Jack is extradited to Louisiana.
